Powering the Queensland economy
Consistent with the Advance Queensland initiative, the Queensland Government is committed to supporting the state's manufacturing industry which is a major contributor to jobs and the economy.
The Advanced Manufacturing Roadmap closely aligns with the newly announced Made In Queensland program, a $20 million state-wide manufacturing program dedicated to supporting Queensland’s manufacturing industry. Government will work with local manufacturers to help them to increase their international productivity and competitiveness, and adopt innovative processes and technologies.
In addition the Roadmap is investing up to $7.6 million over three years to speed up the state’s transition from traditional to advanced manufacturing.

For Queensland to become a recognised leader, nationally and internationally, by 2026 for its advanced manufacturing technologies, products, systems and services.
The Queensland Advanced Manufacturing 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan
The Queensland Advanced Manufacturing 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan ( 5.6 MB) contains 14 actions which target three key areas to position Queensland as a leader in advanced manufacturing technologies, products, systems and services.
- Increasing productivity and international competitiveness by focusing on performance measurement, sustainable business practices, new technical skills training, design-led product development and global supply chain participation
- Targeting the adoption and adaptation of innovative technologies and processes by increasing manufacturers’ digital capability and collaboration between business and research organisations, and
- Domestic and international promotion and marketing.
The actions included in the Roadmap have been developed in response to issues raised in both online and targeted consultation across the state with business, research agencies, peak industry bodies, state and federal government agencies and unions on a Discussion Paper released on 24 February 2016 ( 1 MB). There were up to 100 participants in the consultation process.
The Industry and Manufacturing Advisory Group(IMAG), comprising senior industry, peak body and union representatives, also provided significant input into the roadmap and will continue to provide strategic advice on the roadmap during its implementation. We thank the IMAG for their invaluable contribution.
We are developing six industry roadmaps which will guide how industry and government works together for the next 10 years.
The Queensland Advanced Manufacturing 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan ( 5.6 MB) is the second 10-year industry plan to flow from the $405 million Advance Queensland program.
