Bioenergy facility to power more than innovation
The Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct (SRAIP) at Kalbar, southwest of Brisbane, has taken another step forward with the announcement of $80 million in funding for the Kalfresh bioenergy facility.
The facility will convert agricultural waste into reliable, around-the-clock energy. It is expected to:
- generate enough energy to power up to 31,000 homes
- produce biofuels powering trucks and buses for up to 98 million kilometres annually
- provide natural bio-fertilisers to reduce reliance on imported synthetic alternatives and support local agriculture.
The facility will also provide jobs, drive regional development and establish a scalable farming and energy model transferable to other regional centres.
