Australian first: paddock-to-energy precinct

An $80 million investment in biofuel innovation set to support local producers, power homes, and create jobs for Scenic Rim communities.

Bioenergy facility to power more than innovation

The Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct (SRAIP) at Kalbar, southwest of Brisbane, has taken another step forward with the announcement of $80 million in funding for the Kalfresh bioenergy facility.

The facility will convert agricultural waste into reliable, around-the-clock energy. It is expected to:

  • generate enough energy to power up to 31,000 homes
  • produce biofuels powering trucks and buses for up to 98 million kilometres annually
  • provide natural bio-fertilisers to reduce reliance on imported synthetic alternatives and support local agriculture.

The facility will also provide jobs, drive regional development and establish a scalable farming and energy model transferable to other regional centres.
